Boots on the Ground

Dear FSBC Family,
Drive past the site this week and you'll see it for yourself. The ground is moving.
For months we've prayed, planned, and waited on the Lord. Now the work has gone from paper to dirt, and it's something to watch.
"He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it; for it was founded upon a rock." — Luke 6:48
Clearing the way. First the lot had to be cleared. We took down trees and cleaned up the ground to make room for what's coming. It isn't glamorous work. But you can't build until you clear what's already there.

Moving dirt. Right now the excavators are running. We're moving dirt across the lot and leveling it out, packing it down solid so the retaining walls have something to sit on. From the road it might just look like a big pile of dirt. It's more than that. Get the ground right and everything above it holds. Get it wrong and nothing does.

Laying the first row. Next come the retaining walls. We set the first row of block down on rock, square up the corners, and build up from there, row by row. Behind the wall goes drainage pipe, covered over in river rock, so the water has somewhere to go and the ground stays solid for years. Once that first row locks in, the rest moves fast.

What's next. Site prep keeps going, then we place the retaining blocks and start the work underground. Step by step, stone by stone, the Living Stone Center is taking shape.

Thank you for being lively stones alongside us. The same God who set the foundations of the earth is setting the foundation of this house, and what He builds won't be shaken. Keep praying. Keep giving. And if the Lord puts it on your heart to come work out here with your hands, we'd be glad to have you.

With gratitude,
